A short Game Boy Color game made in GB Studio for the Game Boy Showdown 2023 and my first time participating in a jam. The theme of the jam was friendly and in my notebook of ideas I had a game set during the 1940 Finnish/Soviet Winter War title hanging around for a while so the concept of going around finding these stranded soldiers in the snow and helping them in somewhat small, meaningless ways while this invasion war is going on around them seemed to fit. I've always been fascinated by war but most war games involving violence and patriotism are a turnoff for me so the friendly theme sparked some great new ideas. In typical new solo game developer fashion my initial concept was much bigger, involving sampled-voice directions in Swedish/ Finnish, an in-game dictionary to translate them  and about five times as many soldiers to find but I quickly realised I needed to scale down dramatically if I wanted to get it done in a week's time and then I barely got a somewhat playable version of it. It was a great experience and I learned a ton in a very short amount of time. I'm looking forward to see what everyone else has done!

All sprites, music, assets and game-design made by Diego García, except for the in-game SFX, which come from Sweet Sounds! by Coffee 'Valen' Bat and which were, in all honesty, a god-send.

Amazing game, simple, but I liked how you connected the theme friendly with war, which are like totally opposite. The character art is AWESOME, remembers me of papers please.

And even though it's small, it was very satisfying to explore this world.

The movement seemed "slow" to me because I would always turn, open the map, move move, open the map. Maybe it would be a little better if the map was in the same scene as the world, so it wouldn't have to fade so much.

Great game, 9/10
